Project Great Yarmouth - Final fling!

 Project Great Yarmouth

After a lot of thought, we've decided that 2026 will be the final year of Project Great Yarmouth.

What started back in 2020 as a simple idea somehow turned into six years of drawing cartoons, travelling up and down the coast, and filling every spare corner of the house with bits of paper.

Over the years we've produced well over 200 cartoons. In truth, it's probably closer to 250.

One year alone I drew around 70.

The trouble was, they all had to be delivered.

While most people go on holiday and spend their time relaxing on beaches, we seemed to spend ours driving around Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Hemsby, Caister and beyond, handing cartoons out to the people we'd drawn.

I loved every minute of it.

My wife may have a slightly different opinion.

At one point I had so many cartoons packed into a suitcase that the suitcase actually broke. It's fair to say I wasn't the most popular husband that day.

The cartoons were never really about the drawings.

They were about the people.

We've met business owners, local characters, community groups, entertainers, shopkeepers and residents. We've made friends, shared stories, had countless laughs and been welcomed everywhere we've gone.

For that, we are incredibly grateful.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Project Great Yarmouth since 2020, whether you were drawn, shared a cartoon, stopped for a chat, or simply smiled when you saw one.

We've had an amazing time.

There's still a little way to go before the project comes to an end, so let's enjoy this final year together. ❤️
